Houston County Warrant Records Houston County Warrant Records

If a Houston County ticket or missed court date has you worried about a warrant, the place to call is the city court named on your citation. Each municipal court in the county keeps its own files and issues its own warrants for traffic, ordinance, misdemeanor, and failure-to-appear matters, so one search will not cover them all. A county court search or the sheriff's list may miss a city warrant entirely. Ask the clerk directly. That call can confirm whether a warrant is open and what to do next, whether that means appearing, paying, posting bond, or asking about a recall.

Houston County Municipal Court Warrants

Houston County says misdemeanors inside Dothan, Taylor, Kinsey, Webb, Ashford, Cottonwood, and Gordon generally pass through municipal court. Those courts also handle city ordinance and traffic matters. A missed setting or failure to comply can lead to a warrant or writ of arrest controlled by the city court.

The Houston County Circuit Clerk does not replace a municipal clerk. County felonies and specified county traffic cases follow Circuit or District channels, while city files stay local. HCSO's Most Wanted gallery is curated and not a roll-up of all municipal warrants. An absent name there says nothing conclusive about a city case.

Seven Houston County Municipal Warrant Courts

The county warrant page names seven municipal-court jurisdictions: Dothan, Taylor, Kinsey, Webb, Ashford, Cottonwood, and Gordon. City limits matter because a similar misdemeanor may route to a municipal court inside a city but to county channels elsewhere. A felony or extraordinary circumstance may still belong in the county system.

Houston County Cities With Municipal Courts

Dothan, Taylor, Kinsey, Webb, Ashford, Cottonwood, and Gordon operate the city-court layer identified by Houston County. Each owns its local files. Other matters may route to Houston County District or Circuit Court based on location, charge, and investigating agency.

Houston County Dothan Municipal Warrants

Dothan requires a police report before a complainant seeks a new city warrant. The person calls 334-615-4150 for a magistrate appointment and brings identification, the case number, a completed affidavit, and witnesses with ID. A first name alone is insufficient, and a valid address is needed. A report does not guarantee issuance because the magistrate must independently find probable cause.

The official instructions concern issuance, not a status search. Once a Dothan warrant issues, the city says it cannot simply be dropped. The magistrate address at 115 W Adams and judicial address at 210 N Saint Andrews serve different functions.

Checking Houston County Municipal Warrants

Gather legal name, date of birth, citation or case number, city, and court date. Call the municipal clerk because the city owns its file. Dothan offers a citation search by last name plus citation/case number or birth date, but it is not a full warrant table. Ashford has an official-linked payment route. Taylor publishes clerk instructions.

  1. Use the city's official citation portal for the ticket it covers.
  2. Call the city clerk for current warrant status.
  3. Request an existing public case file when appropriate.
  4. Contact HCSO when the court directs that route.

Ashford Municipal Payment Route

Ashford links to an nCourt payment page that identifies its court and clerk or magistrate. The public screen does not show a complete warrant-result schema. A payment tool can help with an identified obligation, but no result or receipt proves recall.

The official capture shows that local route.

A city file may show the court, case or citation number, name, ordinance or charge, issue date, missed setting, warrant label, service status, bond or appearance direction, payment history, and recall. Cowarts and Rehobeth Routing

Not every city offers a warrant portal. Cowarts and Rehobeth publish official municipal contacts, which identify where to ask who owns a citation or case. Do not substitute a county booking search merely because a city has no warrant form.

The Cowarts site provides official routing.

Resolving Houston County Municipal Warrants

The issuing city court controls resolution. It may require payment, a new setting, bond, surrender, a motion to recall or quash, or an attorney appearance. Confirm the route before going to a court or police station. Clerk staff explain process but cannot predict a ruling.

  1. Confirm court ownership and warrant status.
  2. Ask whether payment, reset, bond, or surrender is required.
  3. Use official court channels and keep receipts.
  4. Confirm that the court changed warrant status.

Warning: Call first. An appointment, bond, or lawyer-arranged surrender may be required before the municipal warrant can be recalled.

Dothan Amnesty Is City-Only

Dothan's Municipal Amnesty Court covers people who have, or think they may have, a Dothan warrant for failure to appear, failure to pay, or failure to comply with a court-ordered referral. Call 334-615-4155 to verify eligibility. Walk-ins are not allowed on Amnesty Court day.

The official municipal contact capture supports call-first routing.

Houston County Municipal Warrants Compared

A municipal warrant stays with the city court that owns its ordinance, traffic, or misdemeanor case. A county felony or Circuit and District matter routes through the Houston County Circuit Clerk. Service may involve city police, HCSO, or another authorized agency. HCSO does not necessarily serve every city warrant.

Note: absence from HCSO Most Wanted is never proof that a city warrant does not exist.

A public-record request is another channel, but it should name the exact court and existing record. Dothan's request form allows a requester to identify citation or complaint, disposition, case action summary, or payment history. It lists 25 cents per uncertified page and a $5 certification fee plus $1 for each added page. The court says processing may take up to a week. That process can retrieve an accessible file, yet it does not guarantee disclosure of an unserved warrant.

Alabama Public Records Law begins with a right to inspect public writing, subject to court, investigative, juvenile, security, and privacy limits. Houston County states the key local limit plainly: an arrest warrant is not public until served. Someone checking their own possible municipal warrant should therefore use direct city-court confirmation, not rely solely on a records request. Ask what identification is needed, whether the person must appear, and how the court will confirm a recall after the required action.

When helping a relative, provide the city court official number and ask what authorization the clerk requires. Do not place a Social Security number, protected address, or full identity file into a general web form. A relative may receive only basic routing because disclosure and identity checks still apply. The most useful help is to identify the owning city, preserve the citation and case number, arrange counsel when arrest is possible, and record the exact instructions for payment, appearance, bond, or surrender.
